At Aster Hospitals, UAE 95% patient healthcare records and transactions are entirely paperless, thanks to, Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
The following core applications are used:
1- HIS (Hospital Information System), this includes EMR (Electronics Medical records), RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) and MIS (Management Information System)
2- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) which allows us to store various medical images for easy access for doctors and patients including test results, scanned prescriptions, medical images etc.
For reporting purposes, we use Microsoft Power BI, and for financial & material transactions and information we use Oracle Fusion. All applications are integrated with the Hospital’s Information System which is at the forefront and is the central hub for patient medical records.
Aster Hospitals, UAE boasts hosting of critical business applications over Microsoft Azure Cloud (UAE Data Centre), which guarantee patient data safety and long term data retention. From the perspective of end users, the access to HIS application and other applications are entirely end-to-end integrated, based on their functionality. The Data centre (Azure Cloud) to Hospital is connected using the Microsoft Azure Express Route, which is very secure and reliable in this region.
Azure Cloud Network acts as a Hub-and-Spoke for Aster Hospitals in UAE whereas Alcatel Lucent OmniVista® 2500 Network Management System act as Hub-and-Spoke for one of the units, Aster Hospital, Al Qusais. However, in general, it is a connected mesh in terms of cloud connectivity.
The Express route is connected with an Etisalat Managed Network (MPLS) cloud and this is linked to two of our entities (Aster hospitals Al Mankhool and Al Qusais).
